Accessible bathrooms on Mersea Island
Walk-in showers, wet rooms and safer bathrooms for island homes, from the team that started out on Mersea.
Mersea is where Nord began. Our Nord Bathrooms shop was on the island for many years, and many of our customers still come to us through recommendations from Mersea neighbours.
We design and install walk-in showers, wet rooms and safer bathrooms for island homes. Our Scandinavian-inspired style suits coastal living: light, calm and easy to keep clean, with the safety features hidden in plain sight.
What we fit on Mersea Island
- Walk-in showers with low or level-entry trays
- Wet rooms with a fully level, non-slip floor
- Easy-access and walk-in baths
- Fibo waterproof wall boards from Norway instead of tiles, with no grout lines to clean
- Grab rails that look like towel rails, fold-down seats and comfort-height toilets
Prices, VAT relief and grants
Most full Nord bathrooms cost £8,500 to £10,000, including design, materials and fitting. Smaller changes cost less, and you'll get a fixed written quote after your free visit.
If you have a long-term illness or disability, adaptations can often be zero-rated for VAT. You may also be able to apply to Colchester City Council for a Disabled Facilities Grant. We'll talk you through both at your visit.
